Meituan (03690.HK) released summer travel consumption data showing top family
destinations were Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Harbin, Kaifeng, Chengdu,
Dalian, Tianjin, Hangzhou and Zhengzhou. Meituan said consumers are shifting
from sightseeing to “deep experience” travel; multi-day immersive trips are
becoming the mainstream and stays longer than one week rose about 30% YoY.
Bookings for cooler summer destinations grew faster than the overall market,
with Southwest and Northeast markets notably hotter. Cities including Kunming,
Qujing, Bijie, Anshun and Liupanshui in the Southwest and Jiamusi,
Daxing’anling, Shenyang and Qiqihar in the Northeast saw advance bookings higher
YoY; homestay nights in Bijie and Jiamusi increased 138% and 57% YoY,
respectively.
