The Communist Party Politburo held its 27th collective study on July 30 on
advancing high-quality modernization of national defense and the armed forces.
General Secretary Xi Jinping, who presided, said that during the 15th Five-Year
Plan period the Party should follow "Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with
Chinese Characteristics for a New Era" and implement "new-era strong-military
thought," strengthen political leadership, deepen innovation and accelerate
high-quality defense and military modernization to achieve the centennial goal
of building the military on schedule and secure decisive progress toward basic
modernization, providing strategic support for China-style modernization and
national rejuvenation.
