Debris from a decommissioned SpaceX Falcon 9 second stage, estimated at about 3,900 kg, is forecast to impact the Moon on Aug. 5 at roughly 06:35 UTC (02:35 EDT; 14:35 Beijing time) at an estimated speed of about 2.43 km/s. Impact is expected near the Moon's Einstein crater; two arXiv preprints predict a flash and ejecta plume that should be observable by ground and space telescopes.
