The Financial Conduct Authority on Friday published the scope of UK equity trading data it will permit to be released, a move aimed at boosting liquidity on the London Stock Exchange. The FCA said it plans to introduce a single data source as early as next year that will publish both pre-trade and post-trade data, enabling investors to compare quotes across venues before execution. The regulator is consulting on whether to include investment bank trading data and on how revenue from the product should be allocated. As a transitional measure, the FCA will from Friday publish a daily closing consolidated UK equity report, the Market Activity Report (MARS), containing the past 12 months of data to help market participants assess market size.
