At the open Monday, Aug 3, China’s CSI 300 Index fell 26.38 points (0.57%) to 4,561.82. The Shanghai Composite opened down 19.65 points (0.51%) at 3,812.61; the Shenzhen Composite down 81.83 points (0.60%) at 13,497.10; the ChiNext Index down 23.87 points (0.71%) at 3,320.09; the STAR 50 Index down 16.67 points (1.02%) at 1,619.29.

By the morning close, China's main futures contracts were mostly lower. Fuel oil and red dates fell more than 4%; urea dropped nearly 4%; Shanghai crude (SC) down nearly 3%. Iron ore and ethylene glycol (EG) declined over 2%; Shanghai nickel slipped nearly 2%; manganese‑silicon fell just over 1%. Winners included polysilicon, up over 7%; container freight (Europe route) up nearly 3%; eggs, PTA, rapeseed and Shanghai zinc rose more than 1%; industrial silicon up about 1%.
