Japan plans commercial trials of autonomous trucks that will run on highways and non-highway roads to enable automated transport between designated logistics hubs. The government will finalise test routes and participating firms in fiscal 2026. Tokyo says testing on non-highway roads requires higher technical capability and is essential for building long-distance logistics networks using autonomous trucks.

TrendForce’s latest panel industry analysis projects that continued capacity consolidation will materially alter supply shares by 2028. Innolux and AUO’s combined supply of LCD monitor panels is forecast to drop below 10%. Their share of LCD notebook panels is expected to decline to around 20%. Supply of LCD TV panels is projected to stay near 22% owing to sustained profitability. Recent capacity pullbacks and asset recycling among Taiwanese panel makers are cited as key variables likely to reshape global LCD TV, monitor and notebook panel supply-demand.

The Ministry of Economy and Finance said Monday the government will cut tax concessions for high-value residences and sharply raise taxes on non-owner-occupied high-priced homes to create a fairer system based on ownership and occupancy. The moves are part of the ministry's 2026 tax reform proposal and support SOUTH KOREA'S LEE's drive to normalize the housing market, stabilise prices and favour "genuine homebuyers". The plan also proposes broader tax reform to foster new growth drivers, promote regional balance and aid low- and middle-income households.
