Syria and Japan held their first round of bilateral political consultations in Damascus on Tuesday, discussing ways to expand diplomatic, economic and cultural cooperation and exchanging views on regional developments.

Qatar foreign ministry spokesman Majed Al Ansari said on Tuesday parties are working to seek a diplomatic resolution to the US-Iran conflict. Mediators including Qatar, Pakistan and Oman are coordinating closely to push for talks and to exchange draft texts; Doha said it is important to resume negotiations promptly. Qatari sources said Doha has prepared draft text for a possible US‑Iran agreement and the draft is circulating among parties, but there is currently no set agenda for direct US‑Iran talks.
