The Accounting Department of the Ministry of Finance said revisions to
Enterprise Accounting Standard No.30 — Presentation of Financial Statements
focus on presentation and disclosure only and do not change accounting
recognition or measurement. Key changes: current-period profit or loss will be
presented in five categories — operating, investing, financing, income tax
expense and discontinued operations — and new subtotal lines for operating
profit, operating and investing profit, and profit from continuing operations
will be required to clarify profit sources and performance. Companies whose
principal business is investment or financing must reclassify gains and losses
normally assigned to investing or financing into the operating category to
reflect their core activities. The revision aims to improve the usefulness and
structure of accounting information.
