The Reserve Bank of India left the repo rate at 5.25% for a fourth consecutive
policy meeting, as expected. The six-member Monetary Policy Committee, led by
Governor Sanjay Malhotra, voted unanimously. The MPC retained a neutral stance,
citing inflation remaining within the 2%-6% target range. The central bank said
it is monitoring energy-price rises from the Iran conflict for broader inflation
pass-through and will consider policy action only if those supply shocks
generate sustained, wider inflationary pressure.
