On Aug. 4, the PBOC Guangdong branch held its H2 2026 work meeting and Guangdong
foreign-exchange management meeting, directing continuation of a moderately
loose monetary policy to help stabilise Guangdong growth and calling for
stronger support to priority sectors and weak links to improve the quality and
efficiency of financial services to the real economy. The meetings pushed
continued FX-management reform to ease cross-border trade and investment
financing, and stressed macroprudential and FX supervision to prevent systemic
financial risk; specific directives included advancing institutional opening in
the FX sector, optimising FX services for the external-facing economy, and
tightening oversight to bolster resilience to external shocks.
