Google (GOOG.O) senior AI leader Jeff Dean, an early hire who led the company’s
AI strategy for about 15 years, will leave to launch a public‑benefit AI company
called Discovery Loop and serve as its CEO. The venture aims to automate
complex, multi-step scientific and engineering tasks to accelerate technological
progress. Co‑founders include Google veterans Oriol Vinyals, Quoc Le and Sanjay
Ghemawat; the four are among the world’s most-cited researchers and have driven
advances in mathematics and protein-structure work. Their exits further
intensify recent AI talent departures from Google.
