Japan Meteorological Agency said at about 16:18 local time on the 6th a magnitude-4.0 earthquake struck the Amakusa and Ashikita areas of Kumamoto Prefecture. Maximum JMA seismic intensity was 3 and focal depth was 10 km.

SanDisk (SNDK.O) reported strong fiscal 2026 Q4 results, with revenue and earnings beating consensus; revenue rose 372% YoY and 51% QoQ. Management said the upside reflected a mix shift to higher‑value customers (data‑center revenue +437%) and price increases. Guidance for the next quarter of $10.3–10.8bn in revenue fell short of Street estimates. Options expiring the week of Aug. 7 showed the $1,370 strike with the largest open interest in both calls and puts; intense post‑earnings options activity may have at least partly driven the stock’s weakness.
