Several authorized Chevrolet dealers confirmed the brand has suspended new-car
sales in China; timelines varied, with some saying the halt began around the end
of last year and others saying the pause has lasted more than a year. GM China
said Cadillac and Buick retain competitive advantages in their segments and can
support sustainable growth, that Chevrolet’s product line is best suited to
export demand, and that Chevrolet models will continue to be manufactured in
China as the company explores overseas markets outside the US; GM China also
said it will continue to provide after-sales support to existing Chinese
Chevrolet owners.
