After a six-week rally, copper is trading in a narrow range as supply tightness and softer US rate-hike expectations keep prices elevated. LME copper topped $14,000/ton last week, reaching the highest level since late-January. Market expectations that the WHITE HOUSE will impose import tariffs have driven large copper flows into the US, tightening available supply elsewhere and supporting LME prices. Softer Fed tightening odds were reinforced by weaker-than-expected US jobs data on Friday, easing inf concerns and bolstering risk assets. CITIC Futures expects copper to remain elevated with heightened volatility in the near term.

Hang Seng rose 0.72% to 25,853.69 at midday after an early gap higher that briefly added more than 200 points and brought the index back above its 250-day moving average; the Hang Seng Tech index briefly gave back gains before noon and was up 0.37% at 4,876.20. Market turnover hit HK$140.8 billion. Livestock and innovative-drug names led gains, with gold, coal and consumer sectors also outperforming; storage, optical communications and semiconductor/compute-hardware-related sectors lagged. Muyuan Foods (02714.HK) rose 4.18%, Chifeng Gold (06693.HK) gained 3.09%; GigaDevice (03986.HK) fell 6.17% and Hua Hong Semiconductor (01347.HK) dropped 3.05%.
