Henan provincial development and reform commission said on Aug. 11 that, with provincial government approval, it has issued a list designating 78 sub-sectors across four pillars—emerging pillar industries, future industries, traditional advantaged industries and modern services—as priority targets for government investment funds. The future industries category covers six areas: artificial and embodied intelligence, hydrogen energy, bio-manufacturing, quantum technologies, next-generation information networks and brain-like intelligence/brain–computer interfaces, and specifically highlights investment in humanoid robots, general-purpose large models, full-chain hydrogen technologies, bio-breeding, quantum computing and 6G mobile communications.

Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index (HSI) opened down 154.43 points, or 0.6%, at 25,498.39 on Aug. 12 (Wed); the Hang Seng Tech Index opened down 38.67 points, or 0.8%, at 4,785.75; the Hang Seng China Enterprises Index (HSCEI) opened down 48.50 points, or 0.57%, at 8,479.60; the Hang Seng Red Chip Index opened down 5.66 points, or 0.14%, at 4,116.27.
