As of Aug 12, margin financing on the Shanghai Stock Exchange was CNY1.355237 trillion, up CNY4.813 billion from the prior trading day; Shenzhen was CNY1.283743 trillion, up CNY4.575 billion. Combined balances rose CNY9.388 billion to CNY2.63898 trillion.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said China has noted reports that SAIC plans its first European factory in Ferrol and that Spanish authorities are reviewing the project on economic, industrial, employment and national security grounds because the site is near sensitive military and shipbuilding facilities. Guo said China has noted positive statements from Spain’s central and local governments, is willing to deepen pragmatic cooperation on the basis of mutual respect and win‑win outcomes, and urged Spain to provide Chinese firms a fair, just and non‑discriminatory business environment.
