South Korea has raised the cap on household-debt growth and pledged to supply
more than 230,000 homes in the Seoul metropolitan area, including 100,000 units
in newly designated zones. The addition sits atop an existing target of 1.35 mln
housing starts in the Seoul metro for 2026-2030 and further intensifies
supply-side measures first announced in September, after a prolonged
construction-sector slowdown tightened new-home supply, contributed to rising
prices and worsened affordability for younger households.
