On Aug. 12 Beijing time, Professor Zhang Yuanbo's group in Fudan University's
physics department and collaborators published "Superconducting 2D cuprate with
a single CuO2 plane" in Nature, reporting they thinned a cuprate
high-temperature superconductor to a single CuO2 superconducting plane. The work
confirms a two-dimensional origin for high-Tc superconductivity and reports an
anomalous metallic state and quantum criticality at the superconductor–insulator
transition, establishing a new quantum experimental platform to probe high-Tc
mechanisms.
