UOB senior economist Alvin Liew said in a report US inf may have peaked in Q2,
but energy-price uncertainty leaves a risk of renewed inflation. He said falling
energy prices have helped cool inf, but energy remains elevated and a rebound in
oil—especially if Middle East tensions intensify—could quickly reverse recent
disinflation. UOB projects average US headline CPI and core CPI in 2026 of about
3.5% and 2.8%, respectively.
