Former Iranian diplomat Abbas Khameyar said the United States has failed its
"economic and military tests" against Iran and has "fallen into the Strait of
Hormuz trap." He said Iran will not yield to US conditions or ambitions, that
control of the Strait has become a "successful deterrent" which has altered the
course of aggression and reset rules of engagement, and that the US has broken
its commitments; only serious, sincere negotiations can secure compliance.
