CENTCOM announced on Aug. 13 it has formed a multi-domain, multinational unmanned systems strike task force, Falcon Strike, to integrate unmanned combat capability across the Middle East. Falcon Strike will field air, surface and subsurface one-way attack unmanned systems operated jointly by US and regional partner forces. The unit follows CENTCOM’s first dedicated UAS strike task force, Scorpion Strike, stood up nine months earlier; Scorpion achieved milestones including the first ship-launched aerial attack UAS in December and deployments in Operation Epic Anger and July strikes on Iranian port facilities. CENTCOM commander Brad Cooper said Falcon Strike will build on Scorpion Strike’s experience to integrate new US and partner capabilities into a unified multi-domain, multinational deterrent.
