People familiar said President Zelenskiy has grown increasingly unhappy with central bank governor Andrii Pyshnyi, viewing him as too close to the IMF and insufficiently supportive of the wartime economy. The IMF attached an unpopular set of conditions to loans to Kyiv, which has intensified the president’s ire and made Pyshnyi a focal point. Sources said Zelenskiy does not currently plan to remove Pyshnyi and sees no clear successor. The tension dates to last winter, when the IMF approved an $8.1 billion programme that required key commitments, including tax increases that drew sharp criticism from MPs and the public.

Fars News reported the head of Iran’s paramilitary Basij said the Strait of Hormuz is “under Iran’s control and management”.
