RBC Capital Markets' Asia macro strategist said in an email the yen has not been among the weakest currencies over the past month, helped by recent intervention, and remains strong against Japan's major trade‑partner currencies. He added that EUR/JPY — a common gauge of the yen's relative performance — is now well below the roughly 187 level seen around the authorities' two prior interventions.
