On Aug. 14 at the Q2 results meeting, SMIC co-CEO Zhao Haijun said wafer revenue by end-market in Q2 was smartphones 17%, PCs & tablets 16%, consumer electronics 44%, connectivity & wearables 7%, and industrial & automotive 17%, with absolute revenue levels rising sequentially. The company shifted capacity to tight-demand areas, producing roughly 40% QoQ growth in AI-related, PC & tablet, and industrial & automotive revenue. Elsewhere, customer pull-ins partly offset end-market weakness, delivering QoQ absolute revenue gains of 8% for smartphones, 16% for consumer electronics and 13% for connectivity & wearables.

Shanghai Gold Exchange (SGE) gold T+D closed down 0.96% at 945.3 yuan/gram in the Aug. 13 late session; SGE silver T+D fell 1.21% to 15,740 yuan/kg.
