China night session opened: main domestic futures mostly higher; coking coal, PTA, low-sulfur fuel oil (LU), benzene, styrene (EB) and para-xylene rose more than 1%, while glass fell more than 1% and caustic soda slipped nearly 1%.

As of Aug 13, year-to-date panda bond issuance reached CNY 202.475 bln, up 73.57% YoY and exceeding full-year totals of CNY 183.56 bln in 2025 and CNY 194.8 bln in 2024, a record high. Zhongguancun IoT Industry Alliance deputy secretary-general Yuan Shuai said regulators have simplified issuance procedures and lowered thresholds and institutional costs for foreign issuers, encouraging more offshore institutions to enter the Chinese bond market. He added that, versus high-rate environments in some developed economies, RMB financing costs have remained relatively moderate, reducing funding costs for foreign issuers and supporting debt-structure stability.

Hong Kong stocks fell; the Hang Seng Index closed down 1.1% at 25,116.85 and the Hang Seng Tech Index slipped 1.77% to 4,707.62. Turnover was HKD 254.18 bln, versus HKD 263.71 bln the prior session. Tech names underperformed all day—the tech index briefly fell over 2% intraday—and AI application stocks plunged in the afternoon. Semiconductors rallied early then gave back gains; nonferrous metals led sector advances.
