On Aug 14 the Baltic Dry Index (BDI) halted a four-day losing streak, closing up
19 points (+0.7%) at 2,863 but down 7.3% on the week. The Capesize index (BCI)
rose 69 points (+1.5%) to 4,538 but fell 11.5% week-on-week; Capesize average
daily earnings increased $627 to $37,652. The Panamax index (BPI) dropped 34
points (-1.5%) to 2,228, down 3% for the week; Panamax daily earnings fell $306
to $20,055. The Supramax index (BSI) gained 9 points (+0.6%) to 1,622, its
highest since July 28 and up 1.2% week-on-week. The Handysize index (BHSI) stood
at 866.
