WSJ reports NVIDIA and OpenAI are nearing a financing deal to build a large
data‑center campus in Ohio; revised terms cut NVIDIA’s planned financial
guarantee from about $250 bln to under $120 bln. The reduction is intended to
address investor concerns over NVIDIA using its balance sheet to support demand
for its AI chips. Under the discussed framework NVIDIA would guarantee the first
phase (roughly 5 GW of power capacity); financing for later phases is to be
decided. OpenAI is still negotiating and aims to sign binding leases for about
10 GW of capacity in the coming days, and the agreement could be signed as soon
as this weekend, according to people familiar with the matter.
