The National Flood and Drought Control Headquarters and Ministry of Emergency
Management said they raised Jiangsu’s flood-control emergency from Level-4 to
Level-3 effective 12:00 Aug. 15, and activated a Level-4 response for Zhejiang.
The move follows Typhoon No.13 White Dolphin and recent heavy rainfall; the
Taihu basin has seen a significant basin-wide flood and lake levels are forecast
to continue rising slowly. Forecasts show heavy to very heavy rain in parts of
eastern and southern Zhejiang on Aug. 15–16.
