President Trump warned he would attack Oman if it interferes with US actions in
the Strait of Hormuz. CNN Washington reporter Aaron Blake said this is not the
first such threat; Trump issued a similar warning in May. CNN counted in May
that about one in 13 countries worldwide had been attacked or threatened by
Trump; Oman is at least the 15th country named. During his second term Trump has
ordered military strikes in seven countries — Iran, Iraq, Nigeria, Somalia,
Syria, Venezuela and Yemen — and has threatened or kept open the option of
strikes against a further seven, including Canada, Colombia, Cuba, Greenland
(Denmark), Mexico, Panama and Oman. Analysts note Trump has frequently failed to
follow through on threats, often retracting them by citing purported progress
that later did not materialize.
