Goldman Sachs data show global bond issuance fell 16% YoY last week, though
year-to-date issuance is 9% higher than the same period a year ago. By segment,
investment-grade corporate issuance rose 60% YoY, high-yield fell 41% YoY and
leveraged loan issuance plunged 88% YoY. Financial-sector bond issuance
increased 38% YoY while structured finance issuance dropped 64% YoY. Assets in
ETFs tracking the S&P and MSCI indices continued to expand, up 32% and 36%,
respectively.
