The Standardization Administration of China (SAC) said the revised household solar water-heating efficiency standard, GB26969-2025, takes effect Aug. 1. The standard will force retirement of obsolete capacity and accelerate adoption of higher-efficiency absorber materials, lower-heat-loss insulation, low-energy smart production equipment and investment in intelligent control systems. SAC expects sector-average product efficiency to improve about 15% (average +15% across system types, up to +50%

SAC expects sector-average product efficiency to improve about 15% (average +15% across system types, up to +50% for some models) and projects annual electricity savings of roughly 2.4 mln kWh.
