A chairmen's meeting of the 14th National People's Congress Standing Committee
on Aug 18 decided the committee will hold its 24th session in Beijing from Aug
25-28. The meeting recommended the session review drafts/amendments including
the Medical Security Law, Farmland Protection and Quality Improvement Law,
revised Agriculture Law, amended National Defense Mobilization Law, amended
Lawyers Law, revised Enterprise Bankruptcy Law, amended Banking Supervision Law
and amended Water Law; consider a State Council-submitted draft amendment to the
Road Traffic Safety Law, a National Supervisory Commission-submitted draft
Anti-Cross-Border Corruption Law, and a State Council proposal to approve an
extradition treaty with Hungary. The session is also slated to review reports on
this year’s national economic and social development plan execution, this year’s
budget execution, the 2025 government debt management situation, cultural
product and service quality, and progress consolidating poverty-alleviation
gains and advancing rural revitalization, plus reviews of individual deputy
qualifications and related personnel appointment/removal items.
