The Three Gorges ship lift has begun its 2026 planned shutdown for maintenance,
scheduled to last 42 days. The work is aimed at deep inspection of equipment
risks and performance optimization to secure subsequent safe, stable and
efficient operation. This is the sixth planned outage since commissioning;
maintenance is divided into seven major modules — including metal structures,
hydraulic systems and electrical systems — covering 68 specific tasks.
