Analysis of India’s commerce ministry data shows the US accounted for roughly
20% of Indian exports in the 12 months to July, largely unchanged despite a year
of punitive tariffs imposed by US president Trump. US duties on Indian goods
peaked at around 50% before being reduced to 18% in February and currently sit
at 10%. India has pursued trade diversification through new agreements with
other partners, but no bilateral trade deal with the US has been signed after
months of high-level talks.
