At an Aug. 20 press briefing, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian was asked
to confirm South Korean reports that Wang Yi said China is "actively
considering" promoting a China–South Korea leaders' meeting during the November
APEC leaders' summit. Lin said China, as host of this year's informal APEC
leaders' meeting, is willing to use the forum to work with parties including
South Korea on an Asia‑Pacific community; he gave no confirmation of a bilateral
leaders' meeting and said China will announce specifics at an appropriate time.
