Mingyang’s self-developed, self-manufactured Tianqi MCD5.0 5.0 MW ultra-low-wind-speed turbine, which the company says is the world’s first, rolled off the production line at its Guizhou facility on Aug. 21. Tailored for ultra-low-wind regions, the unit has a cut-in wind speed of 2.5 m/s, a swept area of 7.74 m²/kW and is projected to deliver about 1,850 annual generation hours at 4.5 m/s.
