On Aug. 21 China’s Southern Theater Command said three Philippine light
aircraft, including a C-208 and a PA-31T, entered airspace over China’s Huangyan
Island in the South China Sea without Chinese government approval. The command
said it deployed naval and air assets to track, monitor and issue warnings,
called the incident a serious infringement of Chinese sovereignty that risks
miscalculation, and warned the Philippines to stop such incursions; forces
remain on high alert to defend sovereignty and regional stability.
