Toyota Motor (China) Investment Co. filed with the State Administration for
Market Regulation (SAMR) under recall number S2026M0090V to recall, effective
immediately, 18 imported Toyota Supra 2.0T cars produced between Sept. 6, 2022
and Feb. 28, 2023. Cause: starter motor manufacturing defect — repeated starts
can cause abnormal internal wear leading to starting difficulty and, in extreme
cases, internal short circuit, localized overheating and fire risk. Filing cites
the Defective Motor Vehicle Product Recall Regulations and its implementing
measures.
