Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and Defense Minister Katz on the 23rd warned
Hamas that if it does not immediately stop flying kites from the Gaza Strip into
Israel, the Israeli military will intensify strikes on those responsible and
evacuate residents in affected areas adjacent to Gaza. Israeli media reported at
least four kites landed this weekend in kibbutzim near the Gaza border in
southern Israel. The IDF said no suspicious items were found on the kites and
they did not pose a public danger, but noted the incidents mirror earlier years’
incendiary kites and balloons that carried ignition devices and sparked fires in
southern Israel.
