OpenRouter data show global AI model calls for Aug. 17-23 totaled 93.3 trillion
tokens, up 23.9% week-on-week. Chinese models accounted for 40.48 trillion
tokens, up 9.88% WoW, while U.S. models logged 9.66 trillion tokens, down 5.85%
WoW; Chinese model calls have exceeded U.S. volumes for 17 consecutive weeks and
occupy four of the global top five slots. DeepSeek-V4-Flash (official release)
remained No.1 for a third week at 11.6 trillion tokens, up 4% WoW. An anonymous
model codenamed Ox Alpha launched on Aug. 20 and reached No.2 in four days with
11.6 trillion tokens; it offers an ~1.048 million-token context window, a
131,000-token max output, supports text/image/video inputs and was free during
preview.
