China’s Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development reported that in 1H localities started construction of 2,450 km of urban greenways and more than 2,800 pocket parks; upgraded about 7,500 ha of urban park green space; and opened roughly 24,800 ha of lawns on a rotational basis.

On the 23rd a fast-moving wildfire approached Reno, Nevada, near the California border. Local fire authorities said the blaze has injured six people, forced about 42,000 residents to evacuate and placed a further 45,000 under evacuation warnings.

Michael Burry, the investor known as the 'Big Short', said Alibaba is overvalued and has sold his entire Alibaba (BABA.N) stake, reallocating into JD.com (JD.O). He had planned to repurchase most Alibaba shares in one to two months but has changed plans; he said he will not be interested unless Alibaba's share price falls by about 50%. Burry also said he does not support Alibaba's rights issue to raise roughly HKD80 billion to fund AI investment.
