At a regular briefing marking the 34th anniversary of diplomatic ties, the
Chinese foreign ministry said China–South Korea relations align with the era’s
trends and the two countries’ common interests and help promote regional peace
and development. It said ties are improving under leaders’ guidance; China’s
foreign minister Wang Yi recently visited South Korea and exchanged views with
Seoul on promoting healthy, sustainable bilateral relations. China reiterated it
places South Korea high in its neighborhood diplomacy and will work with Seoul
to implement leaders’ consensus and lift the strategic partnership to a new
level.
