China's Ministry of Transport said for the week Aug 17-23 monitored ports
handled 275.13 mln tonnes of cargo, up 24.02% week-on-week, and 7.01 mln TEU of
containers, up 13.01%. Rail freight totaled 79.88 mln tonnes, up 0.74% WoW;
highway truck passages were 56.16 mln, up 4.40%. Civil aviation support covered
141,000 flights, up 1.45% WoW, including 4,856 cargo flights (3,154
international, 1,702 domestic). Postal and express volumes: pickups ~3.79 bln
items, up 1.04% WoW; deliveries ~3.77 bln items, up 1.98%.
