Apple is preparing its first updated Mac mini in nearly two years and could
unveil it as soon as the next few days, potentially before its September product
event, reported Mark Gurman. Apple has tested versions with M5 and M6 chips.
Demand for the current Mac mini has surged as a popular platform for on-device
AI workloads, while memory chip shortages are constraining inventory. Apple has
pledged to begin Mac mini production in Houston in late 2026; CEO Tim Cook
recently toured the facility with Trump administration officials, linking the
product to US reshoring efforts.
