Research firm Digitimes says AI-driven infrastructure spending is accelerating
and major cloud providers will increasingly prioritize operational efficiency
and financial discipline in H2 2026. Amazon, Alphabet and Microsoft posted
combined Q2 cloud revenue of $106.3bn, up 43% YoY—the fastest pace since 2020.
Digitimes expects Amazon, Microsoft, Alphabet and Meta to lift aggregate capital
expenditure to a record $745bn. While firms remain constructive on AI demand,
rising investment costs have pressured free cash flow, prompting cost controls,
financial adjustments and more efficient AI service offerings as providers seek
to balance growth targets with mounting investment risk.
