Sky News Arabic, citing the chairman of Iran's parliamentary foreign relations committee, reported Pakistan army chief Munir conveyed a US message to Tehran; the visit was intended to restart a stalled political process.

On Aug 25 Pakistan interior minister Naqvi said he and Pakistan army chief Munir held a productive meeting with Iranian president Pezeshkian to discuss the Iran‑US confrontation, wider Middle East tensions and steps to restore an Islamabad MoU intended to move toward a comprehensive resolution. Naqvi said Pezeshkian set out Iranian government views and concerns, the talks made significant progress and ended on a positive note.
