Canada will on Tuesday announce measures to shield workers and firms after the US on Saturday imposed a 50% tariff on about $20 billion of Canadian annual exports. Canada’s finance, industry, employment and minister of artificial intelligence will hold a press briefing at 11:00 a.m. local time (23:00 Beijing) to outline the package. Domestic measures will include expanded unemployment benefits and a loan program for firms hit by the tariffs, modelled on COVID-era support, sources said. The government is calling the plan the One Canadian Economy Agenda.
