Axios reports Cisco (CSCO.O) is partnering with Supermicro (SMCI.O) to add high-performance AI servers to its NVIDIA-backed infrastructure portfolio, extending beyond networking to sell more AI compute hardware. Cisco says the deal will add high-density liquid-cooled and air-cooled systems to its Secure AI Factory solution. Cisco says it is stepping up AI infrastructure efforts, betting compute demand will not slow in the foreseeable future.

Researchers at the Transient Optics Laboratory, Xi'an Institute of Optics and Precision Mechanics (Chinese Academy of Sciences), led by Liu Hongjun, published in Laser & Photonics Reviews a demonstration extending nonlocal metasurface control to continuous‑wave nonlinear mid‑infrared frequency upconversion imaging. The technique enables compact, low‑cost, high‑sensitivity mid‑IR detection with on‑chip integration potential; cited application areas include gas detection, environmental monitoring, biomedical imaging and integrated photonic sensing.
