Iran Army Ground Forces commander Brig. Gen. Jahanshahi said during an inspection of the northeastern border that ground forces are at the highest state of readiness, equipped with new weapons and specific operational plans to counter any threat. He warned any cross‑border incursion or aggression would put enemy positions and bases within range of army drones and artillery and would be met with a rapid, precise and decisive response, calling Iran’s borders a red line and saying incursions into Iranian territory will receive a stronger‑than‑ever response.

Typhoon Zitan disrupted South China Sea shipping routes, raising freight and pushing iron ore futures higher. Singapore Exchange benchmark September iron ore futures rose 1.04% on Wednesday to $98.15 per tonne. Higher freight typically supports seaborne iron ore prices, but analysts said widening steelmaker losses have slowed production and mill inventories remain relatively high, capping further upside for ore.
