State Council Information Office held a kickoff press conference for the 15th Five-Year Plan; an MIIT official said the ministry will fully implement the 15th Plan and speed up new-type industrialization. MIIT said that during the 14th Five-Year period China’s new-type industrialization deepened, the industry’s shift toward new, higher-quality, smarter and greener development notably accelerated, and all 14th Five-Year Plan targets were met.

MIIT vice minister Xin Guobin said the ministry, together with multiple departments, has jointly drafted a 15th Five-Year plan to promote small and medium-sized enterprises and will publish it soon. He said SMEs are numerous and central to technological innovation, industrial-chain resilience and employment, and face new situations, opportunities and challenges during the 15th Five-Year period.
